Jennica & Matthew Geddert's Ramblings
A Rather Full Day
Mar 19 A Rather Full Day
One day in particular stands out among the others during our time here. We visited a waterfall and went swimming in a pool at the bottom.
While we were there, some monks came and joined us.
An enchanting afternoon behind us, we agreed to meet our friends for supper with a local they had met for a BBQ. We rode in his ancient tuk-tuk, a motercycle with benches, to a great restaurant where you cook your meet and steam your vegetables over hot coals in the centre of your table.
After dinner, we headed off to a nearby disco. When we reached the main road, the tuk-tuk's tiny engine would not provide enough oomph to get us across the intersection. Renée and I were on the back, so we hopped out to push. Our driver did not realize why he could suddenly go, but took full advantage of it and took off. I managed to hop right back on within about five paces, but Renée was left to run behind with her large camera. She dodged scooters and cars whizzing by us. She made it back on once we had crossed the intersection, but we only proceeded another half block and stopped at our destination.
At the disco, we sipped beers (on the rocks), watching music videos showing images of nature, singers, and cooked rats?! A band went on stage and began the live music portion of the evening by giving their rendition of "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You," while the dance floor filled with people line-dancing.
The day's end was signaled by Josh and Matthew's return from the restroom. They were laughing hysterically as they fell into their chairs and barely managed to spit out the story. It seems that while they had been using the urinals, the bathroom attendant had suddenly placed a wet towel on Josh's back and began rubbing his shoulders, giving a strong, quite unsolicited massage. Apparently, after creating such serious awkwardness, the man had even expected a tip.
