Arriving in Thailand
Feb 26 Arriving in Thailand
We flew with Emerites to Bangkok on the red-eye flight. The service harkened back to the days before discount airlines, when everything was included and you got to use real cutlery. They even had stickers for you to put on your seat to tell the flight attendants whether or not to wake you up for food and drinks. Ah… the little luxuries.
We arrived in Bangkok at midnight and took a taxi to an area the book described as a “tourist ghetto” that was sure to have vacancies late at night. I thought that meant a road of hotels with a high concentration of English speakers. Uh, no. It in fact meant a low-life Bourbon street where all the young drunks of the world have gathered to get smashed. We arrived, we looked, and we hailed another taxi.
After a lovely sleep in a hotel in a quiet neighbourhood, we hopped on a local discount carrier to Krabi.
