After Bath we went to Wales, hoping to spend the night in a youth hostel in a 12th century castle. We were given keys to take a look at the men’s room, or should I say boys' camp room, and the women’s room, or should I say girls' camp room. I’m sure that 13-year-olds would love spending the night in a castle tower. I’m also sure that I wouldn’t like spending the night with 13-year-olds. So, uh, no to that then. Unless you get an individual room it seems that staying in youth hostels seems much better suited to same gendered youth traveling together, or I’m just an old snob…
