Candy-Coated Memories

Jul 27 Candy-Coated Memories by Matthew in United Kingdom

We stopped by Pitmedden, where I lived between kindergarten and second grade, and King’s College, where Dad got his doctorate. Our old house still stands (although a garage and attic room have been added), there is still the farmer’s field around the corner we would “sneak across” to go play in the forrest, and the school looks the same.

But the town has grown by at least fifty percent and seems to be becoming more of a suburb. Although there were people in our old home, I had no desire to ask to see the inside. As with Loch Ness, the memories “tainted” by the glasses of childhood matter more than the realities.
