We wrote up our wish list itinerary for the rest of Europe and realized that three more months will be kind of tight. We skipped climbing the cliffs of Dover and headed across the channel to Normandy.

The American beaches, Omaha and Utah, are featured in way more movies and specials so the other beaches where the rest of the Allies landed on D-day were unlike anything we expected. Sword, Juno, and Gold were, well, beaches. You know, where people swim, suntan, and fly kites. We did see a former German outpost on a cliff. There were bunkers and gun turrents and the hillside was riddled with craters left by bombs. It was cool in a morbid kind of way.
