Irony

Driving to Calais on a whim after feeling done with Amsterdam.

Driving through the night and barely catching the 05:30 ferry.

Arriving at 06:00 on a Sunday in England and beginning our hunt for an English breakfast.

Now with the popularity of Bed and Breakfasts, guess what? Restaurants don't open on Sundays until noon. At 11:30 we finally found a place on the outskirts of Brighton that was open.

There was much rejoicing - especially since we'd been living on uncooked meals of liverwurst, bread, cheese, and plumbs since leaving Oma and Opa's. We were rather amused when, here comes the irony, after managing to parallel park on the left, when we discovered that the restaurant turned out to be a California-style diner! Complete with surfboards, milkshakes, poodle skirts, and a picture on the wall of a couple of random guys dressed as Batman and Robin surrounded by Harleys. Anyway, we were too hungry to care and dined on pancakes, eggs, sausages, bacon, fries, toast, and mushrooms (Jennica only). It was lovely.
