The vibe at Hat Ton Sai was pretty cool, but not quite “us” enough to stick around. The rock-climber paradise wasn’t quite “it” for this somewhat acrophobic individual. We decided to go to Koh Phi Phi Don, an island renowned for its tourism. On our second day here, Matthew suggested we go on a snorkeling day-trip. It was a blatent appeal for me to make progress toward wanting to scuba dive with him.

Well, snorkeling was so much fun. It took me a while to learn the breathing techniques, and I still have a long way to go before trying scuba gear, but the occasional nose full of salt water is totally worth the view. At one point, we stopped at a coral reef and I literally swam with a school of bright yellow and blue fish. I could almost touch them (except that they can swim faster than me). Once my sunburned back heals, I want to do it again.
