The Rose Parade (at Night)
Jan 2 The Rose Parade (at Night)
Once you live somewhere it is hard to see the touristy sites that help make your corner of the world unique. Even though I lived in Berkeley I have still not been to Alcatraz, which grinds at me every now and then. So, when we moved to Pasadena, I thought I would make sure to see the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day. Well, that didn’t seem like such a good idea when my alarm went off early in the morning, so we missed it this year. Maybe next year…
Except, tonight we heard a bunch of police activity out on the Washington Blvd (the main street in front of our apartment). I went out to gawk, and discovered that they were moving traffic to the sides of the street. We live on the route where the floats return to the Rose Bowl from their display grounds! These floats are really impressive, but then again they are just floats, and that isn’t all that interesting – it is shaping up to be Alcatraz all over again.
