Jennica & Matthew Geddert's Ramblings

Two countries later

We slept along the road in the car after the concert and decided that camping at the North Sea in Holland would be nice for the next night. We drove all day on the busy Autobahn and were exhausted when we finally arrived. We stopped at the first non-parking lot campground we could find. After a nap we drove to the beach and on the way, about 500m further down the road, found the ideal campground. Oh well. Sleeping in was great.

The song of the day was Bicycle Race by Queen because there are bikes everywhere you look. The roads have scrawny lanes for cars and large lanes for bikes on each side.

Yesterday was the best day of the trip so far. We packed up (Matthew packed up while I showered) and left our overpriced campsite only to discover it wasn't overpriced after all - they refunded the deposit we didn't know we had paid.

We drove in search of a windmill with a tour and found a cute little museum where we learned all about the draining of the lakes to make farmland using the mills.

We still felt like wandering so we headed into Amsterdam proper. It was Saturday night and all the museums and churches were closed, but we did get to see what we felt was a more authentic Amsterdam with the mobs of people - tourists, potheads, normal people on bicycles, and other.
